LG has spent the past month or so teasing its follow-up to the Optimus G ahead of the company's big August 7 event, but tonight the Life's Good crew has apparently decided to up and reveal the device's name. LG just announced that its next flagship device will be known as the "LG G2," confirming that it's dropping the "Optimus" moniker in order to strengthen its brand. The firm has also promised that the LG G2 will feature an "user-friendly and innovative" mobile experience, Snapdragon 800 processor, and support for 150Mbps LTE-Advanced.
In addition to all of LG's G2 teasing, the rumor mill has been busy outing details of the device itself and what makes it tick. The most recent reports have claimed that the G2 will sport a 5.2-inch touchscreen on its face and 13-megapixel shooter on its backside. The leaks also show that LG may have decided that the space beneath that camera is a good place to put the G2's volume rocker and sleep button, which is likely to be one of the device's most talked about features because it's so different than the button layout found on other smartphones.
In addition to its G2 announcement, LG had some news about its Vu line of devices that are known for having displays with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
