The Jelly Bean update for T-Mobile's LG Optimus L9 had a bit of a rocky rollout earlier this year, and eventually T-Mo put the update on hold so that it could improve the performance of new software. Now the update is back, complete with a slightly higher version number and (hopefully) better than ever.
T-Mobile has announced in its official support forums that it has begun rolling out an update to Android 4.1.2, software version P76920f, to Optimus L units everywhere. Included with the update are unspecified security enhancements as well as an upgrade to Jelly Bean, which brings with it goodies like Google Now, expandable notifications, and a smoother user experience thanks to Project Butter. The update weighs in at 355.7MB for customers that skipped the buggy update and are still on Android 4.0.4, and customers that did pull the trigger on the old update will see a 44.1MB download.
An update to Jelly Bean is a big deal for any Android phone, and so it was a bummer to learn earlier this year that T-Mobile had to put the Optimus L9's JB bump on hold due to performance issues. Thankfully, Optimus L9 owners are getting a second chance at Jelly Bean this week, and so hopefully this update goes off without a hitch. The update is now rolling out over the air, and anyone that's rocking a T-Mobile-branded Optimus L9 can try to pull it down from the sky by going into Settings > About device > Software update.
