HTC One Android 4.2.2 update now hitting select European countries

Just a few days after the HTC One's update to Android 4.2.2 began hitting users in Taiwan, it appears that the new software has begun making its way east. PhoneDog readers in both Norway and Romania have given us the heads-up that their European HTC One devices have received the update to Android 4.2.2, and Android Central has heard the same from some residents of Scandinavian countries.

The HTC One's update to Android 4.2.2 is a beefy one, weighing in at over 400MB, but it brings with it a number of enhancements that make taking the time to download and install it worthwhile. That includes a bump to the latest version of Jelly Bean and the new features that come with it, like support for lock screen widgets and a Quick Settings menu, as well as an AE/AF lock feature and the option to turn off the black menu bar that's present in some apps. HTC One owners that haven't yet received the update can check for it manually by heading into Settings > About > Software Updates.

Overall this Android 4.2.2 update looks like a pretty significant bump for HTC One owners. Not only does it bring HTC's flagship up to the latest (for now, anyway) version of Android, it also packs in several goodies that ought to improve the user experience on the One. HTC hasn't made any official announcements regarding the Android 4.2.2 update's rollout in other parts of the globe like the U.K. or U.S., but here's to hoping that it'll continue spreading across Europe and make its way across the Atlantic in the coming weeks.
