Getting an update to your favorite app is always an exciting occurrence because updates often bring bug fixes, new features or other types of enhancements. What's even more exciting, though, is getting access to these updated apps before everyone else. Facebook for Android users will soon get the opportunity to do just that, as the social network today announced that it's kicking off a beta program for its Android app.
In order to sign up for the Facebook for Android beta, users will need to join the corresponding Google Group and then opt-in to Facebook's policies. Users will then be bumped up to the beta version of the Facebook for Android app and will be able to provide Facebook with information on bugs and crashes from directly within the app, as well in a dedicated Facebook for Android Beta Testers group on the Facebook website. Facebook says that beta program members will be fed "a small batch of fixes and new features every month."
There's a pretty wide range of Android hardware out in the wild, with millions and millions (and millions) of devices that are powered by different processors and running different versions of Android. I'm sure that many of those device owners will flock to this Facebook app beta so that they can be among the first to see any new features that might be tested there. This will give Facebook the chance to try out its app updates on a variety of Android products and catch any bugs that may pop up before rolling new software out to the public.
