Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE making the trek to Verizon on June 27 [UPDATED]

After first peeking its ruggedized head out from the FCC and then revealing a bit more of itself in a leaked image, Verizon's new Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE has finally been made official. The device is the successor to the Casio G'zOne Commando, and as its name suggests, one of its major new features is support for Verizon's LTE network. The new Commando 4G LTE also touts an upgraded 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel shooter on its face.

Another big focus of the G'zOne Commando 4G LTE is its ruggedized frame. Verizon says that the new Commando is built to withstand shock of both the extreme and unpredictable varieties as well as water, dust, vibration, salt fog and humidity. The Commando 4G LTE also features a multi-sensor tool with information on barometric tracking, an earth compass, temperature comparisons and other types of data. Finally, Casio has included a Live G feature for G'zOne owners to connect and share their outdoorsy tales, as well as a Glove Mode that enables use of the Commando 4G LTE while wearing gloves.

The new Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE will begin rolling its way onto Verizon's shelves (both virtual and physical) on June 27, with pricing set at $99.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year commitment. The original G'Zone Commando launched at Verizon well over two years ago, so it's good to see the big red carrier teaming up with Casio on a new model. This ruggedized Android smartphone won't be for everyone, but thanks to its 4G LTE support, cameras and toughened body, the G'zOne Commando 4G LTE ought to be a good fit for Verizon customers in the market for a new phone that'll survive their outdoor adventures.

UPDATE: The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE is now live on Casio's website, complete with a full spec rundown for the new device. Here are the features that the G'zOne Commando 4G LTE will be carrying with it once it arrives at Verizon on June 27:
