Google has frequently given us updates on its Android device activation numbers over the years, and today the company shared its latest stats during its I/O 2013 keynote. According to Google, there have been 900 million Android devices activated to date, which is up from the 750 million total activations that Google announced back in March 2013. Google also said that there have been 48 billion app installs.
In addition to these fresh stats, Google announced its new Google Play games services. The new game services offers all of the features that one would expect from a modern gaming service, including cloud saves, achievements, leaderboards and multiplayer support. Google says that its Google Play games services will work on iOS and the web in addition to Android. The new Google Play games services will be part of an update to Google Play Services that'll begin rolling out today, May 15, to all Android devices running Froyo and up.
