It's now been well over a year since Jon Rubinstein left HP and webOS behind, and the former executive has remained fairly quiet in that time. It looks like he's has finally found himself a new home, though, as Qualcomm just announced that it's elected Rubinstein to its board of directors. Here's what Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs had to say on Rubinstein joining the company's board:
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Jon as a member of Qualcomm's Board of Directors. His experience in creating revolutionary consumer electronics and mobile products will provide added insight to Qualcomm's board as we continue to expand the scope and impact of wireless products and technology, improving and enhancing people's lives around the world."
Rubinstein has quite a history in the mobile space, helping to develop the iPod at Apple and then eventually moving on to Palm, where he played a major role in the creation of webOS. After laying low since January 2012, Rubinstein has now reentered the mobile space by joining the board of the company behind the widely-used Snapdragon processors. It's no surprise to see Rubinstein make a return to mobile considering his history in the industry, and now that he is indeed back, it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say after his extended break.
