March 26 turned out to be a pretty big day for both T-Mobile and Apple, as it was announced that T-Mobile will finally begin selling the iPhone in its stores. The magenta carrier said that it will begin offering the iPhone 5 in stores and online on April 12, with pricing set at $99.99 for the down payment and then 24 additional monthly payments of $20 each. One topic that T-Mo didn't go into detail on, though, is the availability and pricing of the higher-capacity iPhone 5 models. Thankfully for anyone interested in snagging a T-Mobile iPhone 5, that information has come out today.
According to our amigos at TmoNews, T-Mobile will be selling the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions of the iPhone 5. However, only the 16GB model will be available in stores. That means that anyone interested an iPhone 5 with additional storage will need to purchase a unit from T-Mobile's website. Here are the pricing details for all three models, which have been confirmed with T-Mobile:
To compare, Apple is currently selling unlocked versions of the iPhone 5 on its online shop for $649, $749 and $849, respectively. That means that T-Mobile customers will be getting a slight discount on their iPhone 5 if they buy from their carrier rather than Apple. Obviously it's kind of a bummer that customers interested in the higher-capacity iPhone 5 models will need to order a unit online, but T-Mobile sells its 16GB and 32GB Galaxy S III models in a similar fashion, so this news isn't a huge shock. And hey, having to wait an extra day or two to hum along on T-Mobile's airwaves with an official Magenta iPhone 5 shouldn't be too difficult considering how long most T-Mo customers have already waited for Apple's smartphone to come to their network.
