Heads up, Google+ users, because Google just announced that it's rolling out some major updates to its Google+ apps for iOS and Android today. On the iOS side of things, users will be gaining some built-in photo editing, as Google has implemented some basic features from the Snapseed app that El Goog acquired last year. Included are basic editing features like cropping and rotating as well as adjustments for contrast, brightness and saturation. iOS users are also gaining some community control improvements with today's update. Both community members and moderators will be getting new features, which include community volume post adjustment, the ability to invite members to the community, member search and content moderation.
Meanwhile, Android users are getting some new features of their own. For example, Google is polishing up the posts found in the Google+ app for Android, reworking the messages and comments to show more text up front. Larger portions of photos will also be displayed automatically thanks to a reduction in image preview cropping. Actions such as +1 or resharing are displayed more prominently with this new update, and when a user devices to tap on a video, photo or link, he or she will be brought directly to a watch page or website. Google has also enabled the ability for a user to share his or her location in their profile, which will display the "best available location" for the person. Android users are also gaining the same community management features as their iOS counterparts.
Today's updates will bring the Google+ app for Android up to version 3.6, while the iOS app will be bumped up to version 4.3. The updates for both platforms sound pretty beefy, and anyone that uses Google+ on an iOS or Android device will likely want to update to these new versions as soon as they're made available. Google says that both updates will be made available later today, so keep an eye out on Google Play or the App Store for them. How many of you use Google+ regularly?
