While consumers in countries like Canada and the U.K. have had access to the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 operating system for well over a month now, there hasn't been a single peep from BlackBerry or the U.S. carriers on when the Z10 will arrive stateside. That's not changing today, but a new rumor has emerged with a potential AT&T launch date for the Z10 that BlackBerry fans may want to pencil in. According to two sources speaking to Bloomberg, AT&T is planning to launch the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone on Friday, March 22. No pricing details were mentioned.
AT&T isn't exactly known for launching new handsets on Fridays, but it's actually something that the big blue carrier has done with several recent smartphone releases. The Samsung Galaxy Note II, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X all landed on a Friday in early November, and the HTC One X+, One VX and Samsung Galaxy Express all hit AT&T shelves on the following Friday. So while this March 22 launch for the AT&T-flavored Z10 is still very much a rumor, it wouldn't be the first time that we've seen AT&T release a new handset on a Friday. That date also puts the Z10 on AT&T shelves around the same time that T-Mobile is expected to introduce its version of the Z10 to the public. How many of you are planning to pick up a Z10 once it finally arrives on U.S. carriers?
