The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was officially announced this morning, ending weeks of speculation on the company's next move in the tablet space.  Resembling a Galaxy Note II, the Note 8.0 features a 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex A9 CPU, WXGA display with 1280x800 pixels and 189ppi, 5-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, a front-facing camera, 4,600 mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz.  It includes S Pen functionality as well, much like the Note 10.1.  Interestingly enough, the international variant will offer phone features, while the US variant won't.  If Galaxy Note II wasn't cutting it for you in the screen size department, this

From a usability standpoint, it closely resembles the Galaxy Note II.  You can use the S Pen on the capacitive buttons below the display (finally!) and it includes some new software like Awesome Note.  The biggest downsides are the lack of S Beam and a non-HD display - though size-wise, I think this will work very well for a number of potential tablet buyers.
