It's certainly been a while since the HTC EVO 4G was in the news, but today the nearly three-year-old handset has made its triumphant return. Sprint today revealed in its official forums that the EVO 4G will be receiving an small maintenance update that'll bump the aging handset up to software version 5.07.651.6. The update, which began rolling out today, includes an unspecified security update.
The last update that the EVO 4G received began rolling out way back in early May 2012, which may have led some owners to believe that Sprint and HTC were finally done with the device. Today's update shows that that's not the case, though, and it's pretty cool to see such an old phone still getting new software, just like Verizon's original DROID Incredible (launched in April 2010). Sprint says that the EVO 4G's update may be released in stages, so don't fret if you don't see anything on your unit quite yet. How many of you still trucking along with an EVO 4G or have owned one in the past?
