Looks like we didn't have to wait long for that Google Now widget. An update for the Google Search app has been released to Google Play, and included in the update is a "Google Now widget for home screen or lock screen." Along with the Google Now widget, the latest Google Search update brings with it support for movie ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, movie passes from Fandango, real estate listings from Zillow and support for U.S. college sports in Google Now. Finally, U.S.-based users will see a music button when they're playing a song in voice mode.
The Google Now widget was first teased in some Nexus support documents that were discovered earlier this week. However, Google made no official mention of the widget at the time, and the company actually deleted those support docs shortly after word of the Google Now widget began to spread. The good news is that it didn't take long for El Goog to push out a Google Search app update that included the widget (and a few other features), making Google Now's information even easier to access than it was before.
Since Google Now is a Jelly Bean feature, anyone interested in slapping the new Google Now widget will need to be running Android 4.1 or later. After installing the Google Now widget, users will be presented with the usual information that is found in Google Now, such as weather details. The widget can also be resized. If you're a Google Now user and you feel like gettin' your widget on, you can find the Google Search app at the Google Play link below.
