Looks like the rumors were true. LG tonight officially took the wraps off of a new version of the Optimus G Pro, complete with a 5.5-inch full HD display. That's a full .5 inches larger than the version that was announced for Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo last month, though both models feature the same 1080p resolution. While this new model's screen is bigger, LG says that it minimized the thickness of the bezels on either side of the display to give it a good feel in the hand and to allow users to get a good grip on the device. This Optimus G Pro also features an unnamed quad-core processor, a curved glass front that LG says gives it a "2.5D" look and a backside with a "Digital Cube Pattern" that looks similar to the Nexus 4's rear.
This final, official version of the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro looks just like it did in a leaked photo that surfaced earlier this month, including the slim physical home key and the silver earpiece at the top of its face. Now that it's official, this new Optimus G Pro looks like a pretty nice little handset, and it'd be interesting to see if those thin bezels really do let the user get a good grip on it. The patterned backside of this Optimus G Pro also looks pretty spiffy just like it did on the Nexus 4, and this white Optimus G Pro gives us an idea of what the rear of the rumored white Nexus 4 might look like.
LG isn't ready to spill many availability details on this version of the Optimus G Pro quite yet, only divulging that it's slated to be released in South Korea by the end of February. It's also worth noting that there's no word yet on which countries will be getting the 5-inch Optimus G Pro and which will see this 5.5-inch model, but the good news is that with Mobile World Congress kicking off in just a couple of weeks, it may not be much longer before more LG opens up a bit more.
