Today's a big day for Sony and its Xperia line, as the company has announced that two of its recent smartphones are getting updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sony has announced that the Android 4.1 updates for both the Xperia T and Xperia V are kicking off this week, with the Xperia TX set to get its own taste of Jelly Bean next month. For these updates, Sony says that it worked to blend its own Xperia software with the regular version of Jelly Bean, which the company hopes will create "optimum user experiences." Some of the tweaks found in the Xperia Android 4.1 updates include:

• Updated versions of the WALKMAN, Album and Movies apps
• More personalization options, including a "revamped home screen experience"
• Better app organization, allowing users to move an app simply by tapping and holding on it, along with a new search tool in the app tray
• An improved camera app that packs in a better viewfinder, an auto-scene setting and a single button to flip between a device's front and rear cameras

Xperia T, V and TX owners can also expect the usual goodies that come with a bump up to Jelly Bean, such as Google Now and its information cards. Sony says that once the Android 4.1 update is ready for download, a user will receive a notification on their device. Usually these updates can be downloaded over the air, but some users may need to go the old-fashioned route and dig out a USB cable to connect their phone to the computer and run Sony's PC Companion or Bridge for Mac software. 

There's no word yet on when AT&T's Xperia TL will be updated to Android 4.1, but AT&T did promise when the device was announced that it would be brought up to Jelly Bean at some point after its release. With the arrival of the Xperia T's update and the Xperia TX's not far off, hopefully we'll see the Xperia TL get treated to its own update sooner rather than later.
