Apple announced today that the iTunes Store has officially sold over 25 billion songs to date. The 25 billionth song, "Monkey Drums” (Goksel Vancin Remix)" by Chase Buch, was downloaded by Phillip Lüpke in Germany. As a result of being the lucky downloader of song number 25 billion, the Cupertino firm will be giving Lüpke a €10,000 iTunes gift card. Eddy Cue, Apple's SVP of Internet Software and Services, says that an average of over 15,000 songs are downloaded from the iTunes Store every minute.
iOS users have long been able to download music from the iTunes Store, and with the recent release of iOS 6, the iTunes Store was given a new look.
