Looks like a new batch of 4G LTE markets isn't the only news that Sprint had up its sleeve this morning. Sprint just officially announced the Kyocera Torque, an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered smartphone that features both LTE and Sprint Direct Connect support. One of the Torque's other main features is its rugged frame, which is built to Military Standard 810G to hold up against dust, shock, and temperatures, and it also meets IP67 standards for resistance against spraying water and being immersed in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It's good to see Sprint expanding both its 4G LTE and Direct Connect handset lineups with the Torque. The new handset doesn't have the most bleeding edge specs that we've ever seen, but it certainly looks like a good fit for a customer that wants connectivity features like LTE and push-to-talk built into a device that can take a licking and keep on ticking. Sprint plans to launch the Torque this sprint, but exact release and pricing details will be announced at a later date.
