The flow of Apple-related leaks and rumors seems to have picked up in recent days, and tonight we've got one more to add to the list. A set of images have been posted by 9to5Mac showing what may be a prototype back casing of Apple's upcoming fifth-generation iPad resting next to the rear of an iPad mini. The rear casing looks like a bigger version of the iPad mini, complete with rounded edges and a slate back, and it's said that this new iPad's back is nearly as thin as the iPad mini's. There's also a black antenna up top for cellular connectivity. The image came from a source claiming to be an iPad accessories manufacturer in China.
A recent rumor claimed that the fifth-generation iPad would ditch the design of the second, third and fourth-gen models and adopt the look of the iPad mini and its rounded edges. Such a move wouldn't be a surprise since that'd bring the design of the large iPad in line with the iPad mini and iPhone 5. Obviously we won't know for sure if these images are legit until Apple makes the fifth-gen iPad official, but this purported iPad 5 backing certainly seems to line up with what we expect to see from the upcoming tablet. There appears to be a smudge or something on the "iPad" logo at the bottom of the casing, but this wouldn't be the first time that we've seen a leaked iOS device part with a smudged logo.
A couple more shots of the purported iPad 5 part can be found at the 9to5Mac link below. What do you all make of these images? Do you think that this is a good look for the iPad 5?
