The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has been a fairly frequent occupant of the leak spotlight lately, and tonight the still-unannounced slate is back in the news. A Samsung-made device with the model number GT-N5110 has appeared in the FCC featuring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and while there's nothing in the documents that explicitly call it out as the Note 8.0, the filing does mention that it's a "portable tablet computer."
The evidence pointing toward the GT-N5110 being the Galaxy Note 8.0 doesn't stop there. The FCC ID label location outline also lines up what we've seen in recent in recent photo leaks (complete with an S Pen in the lower left corner), and the model number matches what a recent report said the Wi-Fi-only Note 8.0's number would be. Finally, Engadget notes that the dimensions given in the FCC filing fit the profile of a device that'd be sized in-between the Note II and Note 10.1.
A Samsung executive said earlier this month that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is set to receive an official unveiling at Mobile World Congress next month, so it's not a surprise to see the device passing through the FCC a month before the event. The Note 8.0 is rumored to include features like an 8-inch 1280x800 display, 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. With that 8-inch screen, this new model will fill in the space in Samsung's Galaxy Note family between the Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy Note 10.1, and it'll give small tablet fans their chance to see what the S Pen is all about.
