Huawei officially took the wraps off of the Ascend D2 and its 5-inch 1080p display at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month, but according to a new leak, the company's got another 1080p phone up its sleeve for Mobile World Congress in February. A new image posted by @evleaks on Unwired View claims to show the Huawei Ascend P2, the follow-up to the Ascend P1 that was introduced at CES 2012. The Ascend P2 is said to pack a 4.5-inch 1080p display, and it also looks like Huawei will continue to use on-screen navigation keys like it did with the D2 and Ascend Mate. The rest of the P2's spec list reportedly consists of a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM, 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 3,000mAh battery and Android Jelly Bean.

While none of the Ascend P2's features are official until Huawei says they are, this could be a handset worth looking into for folks that want a smartphone with a 1080p display that's a tad smaller than all of the 5-inch 1080p units that we've seen lately. It's also worth noting that Huawei actually introduced two versions of the P1 last year, with the 7.69mm thick P1 and the 6.68mm thick P1 S both debuting at CES 2012. It's not known if we'll see something similar with the P2 or if Huawei is just planning to offer this device by itself, but @evleaks does describe the P2 as "wafer-thin" in today's leak, so the P2 may just be the super thin P series device that a Huawei exec teased last month.
