LG and Google's Nexus 4 is a pretty tough smartphone to find, even two months after it was initially made available. Last month, a Google exec blamed "scarce and erratic" supplies from LG for the Nexus 4 shortage, but a new statement from LG claims that its manufacturing plant is operating as expected. Speaking to the Chosun Ilbo, an LG official said that the company's Pyeongtaek factory is cranking out phones as it should be and that there is no problem with supply.
The Nexus 4 launched in mid-November, but the device sold out shortly after it went live in Google's Play Store. It was made available again a couple of weeks later and was quickly backordered. Both the 8GB and 16GB Nexus 4 models are now listed as "Sold Out" on the Play Store, and while we've heard that some brick and mortar T-Mobile stores are receiving stock, it appears that the quantities are fairly low. The mystery of the Nexus 4 shortage is still going strong after LG's latest statement, but whatever is going on, here's to hoping that Google and LG can get it figured out soon so that more customers get the chance to buy a Nexus 4 from the Play Store.
