ASUS tonight capped off the weekend with an official announcement for the MeMO Pad, a new tablet that comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. Bearing a bit more than a passing resemblance to the Nexus 7 (which is also made by ASUS), the MeMO Pad touts a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024x600 and a 1-megapixel camera on its face and is powered by a 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor. Rounding out the MeMO Pad's spec list is 1GB RAM, 4,270mAh battery, 8GB or 16GB storage and a microSD slot, which is a nice feature that you own't find on the Nexus 7. The MeMO Pad will be offered in Sugar White, Titanium Gray and Cherry Pink.
As far as availability goes, ASUS says that the MeMO Pad will be available beginning in January (no specific launch date was given) with a starting price of $149. That's not a bad price for the package, and with a Nexus 7-like body but slightly lower-end specs, the MeMO Pad could be worth considering for folks that like the look of Google's 7-inch slate but need something that'll be a tad easier on their wallet. ASUS's full announcement for its new Jelly Bean tablet is available for your perusal below.
