MetroPCS made multiple changes to its slate of 4G LTE rate plans throughout 2012, but today the carrier announced that it's kicking off 2013 by simplifying its LTE plan lineup. Customers now have three different plans to choose from, and while all of them include unlimited talk, text and data, they each come with different amounts of high-speed LTE data. The cheapest plan costs $40 per month and offers 500MB of LTE data speeds. Ponying up $10 more per month will net subscribers a $50 plan with 2.5GB of LTE data, and moving up another $10 will bring customers to a $60 plan with unlimited LTE data. MetroPCS also offers a Value Bundle add-on that is $5 and includes features like unlimited directory assistance and visual voicemail.
Throughout 2012, we saw MetroPCS alter its 4G plan lineup by doing things like changing the size of LTE data buckets and introducing promotional $30 and $55 offerings. Today's move is meant to help streamline the carrier's LTE plans and make it simpler for customers to pair their shiny new LTE smartphone with a rate plan that'll best fit their needs. When it comes to LTE-capable hardware, MetroPCS has eight different handsets available, ranging from the $149 ZTE Avid 4G to the $499 Samsung Galaxy S III.
