Looks like AT&T isn't the only major U.S. carrier than Pantech is prepping a 720p Android smartphone for. An image of a device dubbed the Pantech Perception has made its way online courtesy of @evleaks on Unwired View, showing a device with rounded corners, on-screen navigation keys and 4G LTE connectivity. The Perception reportedly packs a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor along with a 720p display of unknown size. It's said that the device's model number is ADR930L, which is linked to an entry on GLBenchmark that lists the device as having an MSM8960 processor and running Android 4.0.3.
While we'll have to wait for Pantech and Verizon to make the Perception official before we know everything that makes it tick, so far the device is looking fairly similar to the Discover that was introduced earlier this week for AT&T. The Discover touts a 4.8-inch 720p display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 12.6-megapixel camera and $50 on-contract price tag. That low price makes the Discover an interesting option for customers looking for an affordable device, and it'd be nice to see Verizon customers get the same option with a $50 Perception. There's no word yet on whether or not that'll be the case, but the Perception is expected sometime in the first quarter, so it shouldn't be too long before all is revealed.
