Last night, Sony announced its two latest handsets at CES in Las Vegas, the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. The differences between the two are minimal. They both have a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, a 13-megapixel camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 4.1 pre-installed.
The Xperia Z, specifically, is IP55 and IP57 rated for dust and water resistance, respectively. It is also a bit larger with more bezel. It has a slick glass back with svelte aluminum trim.
No specific availability was announced, but the Xperia Z and ZL are expected to hit the market this quarter (or before the end of March). We're not sure if they will make it stateside, but there is a good chance one of them will launch on AT&T at some point.
