Life can get messy sometimes; whether it’s stress, kids, a busy schedule, or maybe just life itself there are times where we tend to lose ourselves – or our things. Stick-n-Find is a new and improved piece of Bluetooth technology that allows you to stick a small tracking device (the size of a quarter) on anything and allows you to track it through your smartphone - which you hopefully didn't lose. You can set it to active the device itself to light, buzz, or make noise, or you can program the app on your phone to alert you when the object travels too far or is approaching.
While I stay fairly organized, I’m still very clumsy with my things and only during the most crucial times do I seem to lose my keys, my wallet, or even my own phone. Now, how I plan to find my phone with a device that is used with my phone is beyond me, but people who carry multiple devices will be able to benefit from such a gadget.
While Stick-n-Find used to be a much bigger and less convenient piece of technology, it has since sized down considerably so it’s easier stick on smaller objects without adding too much bulk. It has also gone from only being able to send signals from 15 feet to 100 feet, so it’s good for finding a number of things besides keys, remotes, wallets, etc.
A couple of good examples from the video were children and luggage. If you take your children to the playground, you can place a Stick-n-Find on a place like your child’s shoe or even in their pocket so if they travel too far you are immediately alerted; they describe it as a "virtual leash". Aside from finding items that travel too far, you can also use it to monitor approaching items like luggage at the airport. It can be pretty boring standing there and waiting for the luggage to arrive and making sure you don’t miss it, but with a Stick-n-Find you can sit down, relax for a minute, and the app will alert you when your luggage is close.
If you’re really forgetful like I am, you can also take comfort in knowing that there’s even a “Find It” feature in the app for in case your Stick-n-Find turned into a Stick-n-Lose. If you lose the tracking device itself and your phone can’t find it, you can set the app to alert you when that specific one turns up somewhere near you.
The battery on a Stick-n-Find lasts over a year, and uses a standard battery watch so it’s easy to replace. The Stick-n-Find works on iOS devices with Bluetooth 4.0 (iPhone 4S and newer) and works on Android devices running on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and newer. So unfortunately, if you’re interested in this product you’ll need to have a newer device, or at least a device that has or will be able to upgrade to a newer software version in the future.
What do you think about this product? Would you find it useful, or even actually use it? Have you used earlier versions of this device before? Let me know what you think!
