MIcrosoft officially confirmed the Windows Phone 7.8 update alongside its introduction of Windows Phone 8, but since then, the Redmond company has been fairly quiet about the new software. While there's still no word on when it'll be released to the public, a video showing Windows Phone 7.8 in action on a Nokia Lumia 510 has made its way online to help satiate the hunger of Windows Phone 7 owners that are waiting for the update. The clip demonstrates resizable live tiles as well as the ability to set the device's lock screen wallpaper to a Bing image.
There's nothing terribly surprising shown in this leaked video, but considering how little we've heard about Windows Phone 7.8 since its announcement, I'm sure many folks are happy to see the update in the news once again. Microsoft has said that Windows Phone 7 devices can't be updated to Windows Phone 8 due to things like the new hardware and kernel used with WP8. The company has said that Windows Phone 7.8 will include the new Start screen with resizable live tiles found in Windows Phone 8, but Microsoft has been tight-lipped about what else will be included.
