Apple and HTC recently found patent peace, reaching a settlement that ended all of their lawsuits against one another and kicked off a 10-year licensing deal. Anyone hoping for a similar deal between Apple and Samsung shouldn't hold their breath, though, as a Samsung executive has said that his company doesn't plan to settle. J.K. Shin, Samsung's mobile head, told Yonhap News Agency that while HTC and Apple may have reached an agreement, Samsung doesn't "intend to (negotiate) at all."
Apple and Samsung have actually come together for settlement talks in the past, but obviously those talks didn't actually produce any results. It appears that the two firms will continue to duke it out in courtrooms across the globe, dashing the hopes of anyone that thought that Apple and HTC's agreement might help to lead to a similar deal between Apple and Samsung. The two companies have many lawsuits against one another, and they're currently scheduled to meet for a hearing in December related to the jury verdict that was handed down in August. Looks like the patent wars will continue on for now.
