Just a little over a month after crossing the 25 billion apps downloaded milestone, Google has announced that its Play store has hit another noteworthy mark. The company has confirmed to AllThingsD that Google Play is now home to 700,000 apps, which is 25,000 more than it touted when it hit 25 bilion downloads in September. This figure from Google matches the one that was included in Apple CEO Tim Cook's App Store announcements last month.
While the total number of apps available isn't the only way to judge an app market, 700,000 total apps is a pretty impressive figure, especially considering that it was just two years ago that Android was crossing the 100,000 app mark. As the number of apps in the Play store continues to grow, Google has been working to help developers improve the quality of their apps, and we've been seeing more and more Holo-themed apps as a result. The company recently began a push to improve the quality of Android tablet apps as well. So Android fans, which of the 700,000 apps available in Google Play do you consider to be must-have?
