Google was scheduled to hold an Android-focused event on October 29, but it appears that the search company didn't feel like going up against Hurricane Sandy. Google just sent a statement to Engadget saying that it's canceling its Monday event due to the hurricane, which is expected to hit New York City around the same time that El Goog's gathering was going to be happening. There's no word yet on when the event might be rescheduled, but Google says that it'll update us when it has more information. The company's statement on the matter:
"We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more."
The rumor mill has claimed that Google was planning to show off several new Nexus devices at the event, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and a couple of new Nexus 7 models. While it's a bummer that the event has been put on hold, Google doesn't want to put anyone in harm's way just for some new phones and tablets, so it's probably a wise decision to put the shindig on hold rather than risking injury to any event-goers.
