Been wondering if your Motorola device will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? Wonder no more, friend, because Motorola today refreshed its Android upgrade schedule with information on which devices will be bumped up to the latest version of Google's mobile OS. Motorola has already confirmed that the DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD will be updated to Jelly Bean before the end of 2012. Here's the list of other products that'll receive an Android 4.1 bump:
- Atrix HD
- Photon Q
- Electrify 2
- DROID RAZR
- DROID RAZR MAXX
- DROID 4
- DROID Bionic
- XOOM 3G/LTE (to begin in Q4 2012)
When Motorola introduced the new DROID RAZR trio last month, it also announced that customers with a device that won't get a Jelly Bean update will instead be eligible to receive a $100 credit with the purchase of a new Moto handset. The company's upgrade schedule now lists the phones that are eligible for its trade-up program (details here), which are:
- Atrix 4G
- Atrix 2
- Photon 4G
- Electrify
- Cliq 2
- Admiral
- DROID 3
- DROID X2
- Milestone 3
- Milestone X2
- XPRT
- Triumph
- Titanium
Both lists are sizable, and it's nice to see that Motorola has decided to update the DROID Bionic to Jelly Bean, especially after the device's long journey to launch and after a Moto executive admitted that owners of the Bionic have "gotten a raw deal." On the other hand, anyone that owns a device on the non-upgradable list is bound to be disappointed. That's doubly so considering that most of them never even got bumped up to Ice Cream Sandwich. Owners of those phones that decide to stick with Motorola for their next phone purchase can get a $100 credit toward the purchase of a new phone, though, so at least there's a little bit of good news for those users.
