The last time that we heard anything about the BlackBerry PlayBook's update to OS 2.1, it was late July and a document leaked out with details on the improvements that the update would contain. Now it's early October, and while there's still no official word on the update from RIM, a newly-leaked doc claims that the PlayBook OS 2.1 update will start rolling out tomorrow. An image posted by MobileSyrup claims that the OS 2.1 update will be available starting on October 3 and will bring tweaks like the ability to view PIM in portrait orientation and support for viewing SMS messages on the PlayBook using BlackBerry Bridge. The list of changes from the leaked image:
These enhancements all appeared on the aforementioned document that popped up in late July. Other changes from that doc include the ability to perform software updates and conduct video chats over a cellular connection. While the emergence of this image isn't official confirmation of the update's impending arrival, we did see a similar leak a few days before the PlayBook OS 2.0 update was released, so it's possible that we'll see a similar situation will go down for the OS 2.1 update. We'll find out tomorrow whether this new leak is accurate, so you PlayBook owners ought to get your tablet ready just in case.
