When the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate launched on AT&T in mid-June, it did so with 4G LTE connectivity and an attractive $49.99 price tag, but it also ran Android 2.3 out of the box, which wasn't exactly the latest version of Google's OS. Today the Exhilarate is being treated to a fresher dessert, though, as a Samsung support page has revealed that the phone's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update has arrived. The new update will bring the Exhilarate up to software version I577UCLH3 and includes a bump up to ICS as well as device stability improvements.
Exhilarate owners interested in moving to Ice Cream Sandwich will need to grab a nearby micro-USB cable and power on their computer, as the update is only available through Samsung's Kies software. That update method may not be quite as convenient as an over the air rollout, but considering that the the new software will take the Exhilarate from Android 2.3 to Android 4.0, the added effort is likely worth it. As usual, we'd love to hear from any Exhilarate owners out there that successfully get ICS up and running on their handset!
