The ZTE Optik has been priced at $99.99 ever since its debut back in February, but customers interested in ZTE's 7-inch slate may soon be able to snag one for free when buying a smartphone. According to a leaked Sprint document, customers buying any smartphone with a two-year contract from the Now Network will have the option of picking up a ZTE Optik free of charge, although a two-year contract will also be required for the tablet. The promotion is said to be kicking off tomorrow, August 12, and running through September 30.
ZTE's Optik features a 7-inch 1280x800 display along with a 2-megapixel camera on its face, and flipping it around will reveal a camera of the 5-megapixel variety. Also included is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 16GB storage, 1GB RAM, 4,000mAh battery and Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Those specs are bad for a tablet that doesn't cost anything (so long as you're also buying a smartphone), though interested customers should keep in mind that they'll need to sign up for a contract for the Optik as well as the new handset. If you're in the hunt for a new slate and that all sounds A-OK, then a shiny new Optik could be yours for the low, low price of free tomorrow.
