The iOS 6 beta train just keeps on rollin'. A few weeks after pushing out iOS 6 beta 3 to registered developers, Apple has begun sending those users an update to iOS 6 beta 4, which is build number 10A5376e. It's not yet clear exactly what kinds of tweaks this latest beta might contain, but anyone that's registered with Apple as an iOS developer can now download the software and check it out themselves. Also, it's worth noting that beta 4 is showing up on users' devices as an over-the-air update, but it's labeled as "iOS 6 beta 3" rather than "iOS 6 beta 4." The update is available for the new iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and fourth-generation iPod touch.
iOS 6 was originally announced at WWDC 2012 in early June, and since then, registered developers have been receiving updated versions of the new operating system for testing purposes. Apple has said that iOS 6 will be released to the public this fall, but the company has yet to announce a specific launch date. However, it's likely that we'll see it arrive around the same time as the new iPhone, which is currently rumored to be set for a September 12 debut and September 21 launch.
UPDATE: Looks like Google Maps isn't the only previously stock app that'll be missing from iOS 6 when it launches in the fall. The YouTube app is missing from iOS 6 beta 4, and Apple has confirmed to The Verge that the iPhone's YouTube app won't be built into in iOS 6 because Apple's license to include the app has expired. However, iOS users can still access YouTube using Safari, and Apple says that Google is working on a new YouTube app that'll be available in the App Store.
