Just a week after the Nexus Q was given "In Stock" status on the Google Play store, Google has revealed that it is postponing the consumer launch of the streaming orb. In an email that just went out to pre-order customers, Google explains that it's pushing back the retail debut of the Nexus Q in order to "work on making it even better." In order to show its appreciation for those that already plunked down $299 for a Q, Google says that it's sending all of the pre-order customers a free "preview" unit. Google's email to those customers is available below.
Introduced at Google I/O in June, the Nexus Q is a device that can be hooked up to speakers or a television and stream a user's Google Play content. That wasn't enough functionality for some, though, as Google explains that initial users of the Q would like it "to do even more than it does today." Exactly how Google plans on improving the product, and when it plans to reschedule a launch, isn't known. I'm sure that folks that already pre-ordered the Nexus Q are pretty happy to be getting a free unit, though, especially since there's already some users have already begun tinkering with it.
