When Motorola introduced the Atrix 4G in February 2011, it also revealed a Lapdock accessory that users could plug the Atrix into and turn the Lapdock into a laptop of sorts, complete with WebTop software that offered access to features like a full browser as well as the phone's regular functions. Several other Motorola phones have come to market with WebTop and Lapdock compatibility since then, but one device that doesn't support either is the new Atrix HD for AT&T. Motorola has confirmed to Phone Scoop that the Atrix HD lacks the WebTop and Lapdock support, a move it says was made to help meet the phone's $99 price tag. A Motorola spokesperson explained that the company "focused on the features that will deliver the greatest value for this device’s target audience."

Motorola says that the Atrix HD is aimed consumers that "get excited about new technology" but are also "price conscious," the omission of Lapdock support kind of makes sense considering that the Lapdock 100 and Lapdock 500 Pro are currently priced at $249.99 and $349.99, respectively. Still, it's kind of a bummer that WebTop and Lapdock compatibility are missing from the Atrix HD, especially since the previous two Atrix models included both.
