AT&T today took the wraps off of the Samsung Galaxy Appeal, an Android-powered GoPhone device that the carrier touts as its first prepaid side slider. Along with the landscape-sliding QWERTY keyboard, the Galaxy Appeal packs in a 3.2-inch 320x480 touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera and microSD card slot and is powered by a 1,300mAh battery. There's also an 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM and 1.8GB ROM packed into the Appeal's body. The device will come preloaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread when it debuts at Walmart for $149.99 on June 5th, with availability at all other AT&T GoPhone outlets starting July 15th.
As far as data plans for the Galaxy Appeal go, customers interested in this slider have a few options to choose from. The smallest plan offers 50MB of usage for $5 per month, while the next step up offers 200MB for $15 per month. There's also a plan that offers 1GB of data usage for $25 per month.
The Galaxy Appeal looks to be a fairly basic Android-powered smartphone, but the handset's inclusion of a landscape-sliding hardware keyboard is something that should draw attention to it. If you're interested in reading up a tad more on the Galaxy Appeal before its launch next month, you can find AT&T's press release announcing the phone down below.
