Buckle up, folks, because a pair of new Android-related rumors concerning a Facebook phone and the next Nexus have begun circulating. First up, Digitimes is reporting that it's been told by sources that HTC is currently prepping a new smartphone with Facebook that's currently expected to debut in the third quarter of this year at the earliest. The handset is said to be running Android and will reportedly "enable and integrate all functions available" on Facebook. No other details of the device are known.
Digitimes goes on to claim that Samsung will be the manufacturer of the next Google Nexus handset. No details on the actual device are mentioned, but the Taiwanese site's sources claim that Google has chosen Samsung to leverage the company's "ability with regard to the Android platform, and its ability to control the supply of key components."
It's worth noting that Digitimes has a bit of a mixed track record when it comes to rumors, so it's worth taking both of this reports with a few grains of your favorite salt. It definitely seems possible that Samsung could be chosen to produce the next Nexus considering that the company is the top Android manufacturer and has already put together two popular Nexus handsets. As for the HTC-Facebook device, we've already seen one "Facebook phone" hit with the HTC Status (pictured above) here in the U.S. in July of last year, so the two companies may feel that a similar device with updated specs is worth releasing.
