Good news this afternoon for owners of Sprint's LG Optimus S, as it looks like a nice re-push of a Gingerbread treat is in your very near future. Sprint has announced on its official community forums that it plans to begin rolling out the LS670ZVJ update to the Optimus S starting on April 4th. The update will bring with it a bump to Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well as a handful of other enhancements, including fixes for an error involving the unmounting of the device's SD card and an issue with the Android keyboard's predictive text. Enhancements/Fixes:

• Device not charging
• SD card un-mounting error
• Device not recognized by Windows SP, Vista, or 7 operating systems
• Predictive Text with Android Keyboard issue
• Voice call volume issue
• Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • Updated color scheme (includesdarker notification bar and black-based menus)   
  • New on-screen keyboard (supports multi-touch input and a  smart auto-correction function)
  • Improved cut-paste functionality
  • New integrated download application for ease in accessing downloaded files
  • Updated camera application
  • Power management and task killer applications

This is actually the second time that Sprint has rolled Android 2.3 out to the Optimus S. The original push began back in September, but Sprint suspended the update after it began causing issues for users. As I mentioned before, the new LS670ZVJ update will be rolling out in stages starting on April 4th, and Sprint expects 100 percent of devices expected to receive it within 21 days.
