RIM said back in October of last year that it would be releasing the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 software sometime in February, but so far we've made it halfway through the month with no update and no official word on the exact date of its arrival. According to a report out of N4BB, though, we may not have to wait much longer for the new software to arrive. The site has been told by its unnamed sources that the PlayBook OS 2.0 will be landing on February 21st. That's next Tuesday, aka one week from today.
The PlayBook OS 2.0 update should be a big one for owners of the BlackBerry tablet, as it'll bring with it things like native calendar, contact and email support among other goodies. BlackBerry Messenger addicts will have to wait for a future PlayBook OS release for a dedicated BBM app, though users will still be able to use BlackBerry Bridge with their handset to use the service on the PlayBook that way. Speaking of Bridge, N4BB believes that an improved version of the app could be coming around the same time as the PlayBook OS 2.0. Whether that all happens next week is still up in the air, but you can bet that we'll pass along more information as we get it. How many of you have a BlackBerry PlayBook and are looking forward to the OS 2.0 update?
