Well, this looks interesting. The device you're looking at above is dubbed the LG Optimus Vu, a handset being teased by the folks at LG on its blog and as well as in a brief video that we've got embedded below. LG hasn't said much about the Optimus Vu itself, but the company has revealed that the handset has a 5-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. A report from Datacider claims to have more information on what makes the Vu tick, alleging that the device is packing a 1024x768 display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The Vu is also said to be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
So yeah. Obviously the Optimus Vu's 5-inch, 4:3 display makes it rather unique compared to most other smartphones on the market. Pantech recently gave the 4:3 aspect ratio a crack with the Pocket on AT&T, but that device featured a 4-inch display, which is a tad smaller than what's found on the Optimus Vu. There's no telling yet if we'll ever see the Optimus Vu hit U.S. shores like the Pocket did, but we could end up seeing the handset debut at Mobile World Congress later this month, so we may still get a chance to handle the Vu and its 5-inch 4:3 screen.
