Shortly after the LG Optimus One was unveiled, variants of the Android device began hitting a variety of U.S. carriers in the U.S., offering a device with respectable performance for an affordable price. Now it seems that the Optimus One's successor has been unveiled on LG's official website. Creatively dubbed the Optimus 2, the handset is packing a 3.2-inch 320x480 display, 800MHz processor, 3.2-megapixel camera, 179MB internal memory, microSD card slot, a 1,500mAh battery, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Optimus 2's feature list also mentions that this model packs in CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A compatibility.
The original Optimus One was a fairly entry-level device when it was introduced, and it looks like the Optimus 2 is following in its predecessors footsteps in that regard. There's no word yet on when the Optimus 2 might continue to emulate the Optimus One by coming to U.S. carriers, but considering the success that the first model saw here in the States, I wouldn't be surprised if we heard more about U.S. availability at some point, perhaps even as soon as CES next week.
