It's the beginning of a new month, and you know what that means: Android distribution update time! The fine folks at Google have posted the refreshed numbers for the two-week period ending on December 1st, and Gingerbread has had another month of strong growth. On top of the heap is Android 2.3 with 50.6 percent total, a figure that's up around 6 percent from last month. The other dessert with a big piece of the Android pie is 2.2 Froyo, which was present on 35.3 percent of devices accessing the Market as of yesterday. Rounding out the pack is Android 2.1 Eclair at 9.6 percent, Android 1.6 Donut at 1.3 percent, and Android 1.5 Cupcake with 0.8 percent. The tablet-specific Honeycomb finished on a total of 2.4 percent of devices using the Android Market.
Just like last month, it's not much of a shock to see Gingerbread continue to grow as more devices are updated to 2.3 and more products come to market with that version preinstalled. Of course, with Ice Cream Sandwich about to burst on the scene, it should be interesting to see it added to this list and watch how quickly it gains share and compare its growth to Gingerbread's rise to the top of the hill. So folks, which version of Android are you currently running?
