Many folks have been drooling over the quad-core ASUS Transformer Prime ever since it was first announced early last month, but today ASUS has finally given us an idea of when we can stop drooling and start buying. The company has said that it expects availability "to start the week of 12/19 based on the pre-orders and inbound shipment schedules." That's not the end of the good news, though, as ASUS has told SlashGear that it expects to release an over the air update to the Prime before launch that'll improve battery life with the device's dock while in power saving mode and improve performance.
In case you've somehow forgotten, the Transformer Prime packs specs like a 10.1-inch 1280x800 Super IPS+ display, quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel shooter around front, 1GB RAM, 32/64GB storage, and Android 3.2 Honeycomb with an update to Android 4.0 expected soon. Pricing is set at $499 for the 32GB model and $599 for the more capacious 64GB flavor. Sound good? Unfortunately, we're still around a week and a half from actually being able to buy the thing, but ASUS has gone ahead and posted a new teaser video showing the Prime off to keep us occupied until then. You can find the clip embedded below. So, who's buying?
