Ever since the iPhone 4 and 4S arrived on Sprint last month, many iDevice owners on the Now Network have been complaining of poor network speeds. Sprint said back at the beginning of November that it was working on a fix, and now the carrier has revealed that it's spent the past few weeks rolling out "network enhancements" that are designed improve data performance. "Initial customer response to the improvements has been very positive," said Fared Adib, Sprint's vice president of product development. Adib added that Sprint continues to monitor network performance and that, to date, customer satisfaction for the iPhone has been very high while support calls and returns of the devices have both been low.

Although it may have taken longer than I'm sure many Sprint iPhone owners would've liked, it's good to see Sprint responding to the issues that iPhone users are having and continuing to tweak its network to try and improve performance. So far the results of those tweaks seem to be a mixed bag, with one user of Sprint's community forums seeing speeds of 1.24Mbps while another Sprint iPhone customer reported to CNET that he saw speeds as low as 70kbps.
