Now that Nokia has taken the wraps off of its first two Windows Phones and folks have had the chance to spend some quality time with both devices, the focus has turned to what the Finnish firm has up its sleeve for its next new handset. Today we may have gotten an early peek at some upcoming piece of Nokia hardware thanks to a video posted by none other than Nokia itself. The clip is aimed at developers, but it also offers a glimpse at a device that doesn't resemble either of Nokia's officially announced Windows Phone devices. Nokia has yanked the video, but we've got it embedded below in case it comes back online.
Keeping up with the Finnish fun, Nokia France head Paul Amsellem was reportedly caught talking up some of his companies plans for upcoming devices, including a tablet and a new smartphone. Amsellem allegedly said that his company plans to release a Windows 8 tablet that could be released to retailer as soon as June 2012. The exec is said to have followed that tidbit up with a tease of new handsets that may be in the pipeline, saying that the Lumia 800 is "the equivalent of the BMW 5 Series" and that Nokia will soon have "a full range with a Series 7 and Series 3." In a statement issued to BGR, Nokia today said that it didn't have anything to announce regarding a Windows 8 tablet or new Windows Phone.
Though we fully expect Nokia to introduce more Windows Phone-powered devices in the coming months, it's tough to say whether or not the handset in the developer video will be one of them. It certainly looks like a Nokia product, especially with the blue body, but it's entirely possible that this is just a concept device that'll never actually make it to market. It's worth noting that we've heard rumors of a high-end Nokia handset codenamed Ace, so it's possible that the product above could be that very device. What do you all think?
