Today's the first day of October, and that means that we're just a few short days away from Apple's Let's Talk iPhone event and the start of what looks to be a crazy month in mobile. Of course, the Apple rumor mill has been kicking into high gear as we get closer to the October 4th iPhone event, and today we've got another report to add to the pile. This morning the folks at 9to5 Mac received the photo you see above, purportedly showing that AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon versions of the iPhone 5 have made their way into RadioShack's inventory system. The image also lists the iPhone 5 as coming in 16 and 32GB capacities.
Continuing with the unannounced iPhone news, it seems that the latest beta version of iTunes (released yesterday) makes a direct mention of the "iPhone 4S." The icon accompanying the image is listed as being the one belonging to the CDMA iPhone 4, meaning that as long as this icon isn't being used as a placeholder, the iPhone 4S will look just like the Verizon iPhone 4. There are also only two iPhone 4S references — black and white — rather than the four needed for the iPhone 4 — black CDMA, black GSM, white CDMA, white GSM — adding credence to the rumors that the new iPhone will be a global CDMA/GSM device. Check out the screenshot from the iTunes beta below.
Although we're still not sure precisely when Apple plans to launch the iPhone 5, if the new device is indeed hitting RadioShack's inventory one would think that a release may come shortly after the Let's Talk iPhone shindig on Tuesday. All will be revealed in just a few short days, but that still gives us time to do some last-minute speculation! When do you all think the iPhone 5 will hit store shelves? October 7th? October 14th or 15th? The split-second after Tim Cook/whoever else announces the new iPhone on stage? Drop your guesses into the comments below!
UPDATE: The iPhone news keeps on rolling. It seems that some TUAW readers spotted listings for both the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 on the i-Wireless prepaid section of regional carrier Cincinnati Bell's website. The iPhone 5 featured a $639.99 price tag ($699.99 regular price) and specs that include an 8-megapixel camera, 4-inch display, and "4G Data Speeds." Meanwhile, the iPhone 4S was sporting a $99.99 price ($400 regular price) and a 5-megapixel camera, 3.5-inch screen, and A5 processor. Both listings have since been removed, but you can find a screenshot of the one belonging to the iPhone 5 below.
