The Motorola leakage continues on this fine Saturday afternoon, this time with a handset for all of you AT&T folk out there. After getting a couple of peeks at the Motorola Atrix 2 in the wild earlier this week, today we've been treated to some press images of the handset codenamed Edison as well as some details on the phone's new Lapdock. First up, the Atrix 2: it's indeed packing a 4.3-inch 960x540 qHD display like we'd heard, and there's also confirmation of an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and 1GB of RAM. Customers that purchase the Atrix 2 will find a complimentary 2GB microSD card preinstalled in the device, but what they likely won't find is LTE connectivity, despite the fact that the phone's status bar shows "4G." As with most other new Moto-made Android phones, you'll also find the company's custom UI on top of Gingerbread.
Moving on to the Lapdock you see below, the source of the images says that this is a new model known as the "Lapdock 100." Besides bearing a slightly revised look compared to the Lapdocks of old, the 100 version is also said to be packing a 10.1-inch display, which slightly smaller that the 11.6-screen found on the previous model. Another change is the way in which you actually connect the phone to the Lapdock: rather than simply dropping it in and going, you'll reportedly need to place the device in the cradle and then connect a cable from the dock to the handset's microUSB and HDMI ports.
Sounds to me like a pretty respectable way to follow the Atrix 4G. It's definitely a bit of a bummer that it doesn't look like the Atrix 2 will be packing LTE connectivity, but since AT&T's LTE network is currently only available in a handful of markets, that omission may not be a deal breaker for some. Oh, and those of you patiently waiting for Atrix 2 launch details are still out of luck. Considering how often this handset's been leaking as of late, though, I wouldn't be surprised to hear more details on it sooner rather than later.
