Heads up, tablet connoisseurs: Amazon just sent out invites for a press conference next Wednesday, September 28th. There's no mention of exactly what the giganto-retailer may have up its sleeve, but the popular opinion seems to be that we may finally see the long-awaited Amazon tablet make its debut, possibly alongside a new Kindle.
For those that'd like a quick refresher, the Amazon tablet is rumored to be running a highly-tweaked version of Android that's packed to the gills with support for the company's services, like Amazon Appstore, Cloud Player, etc. Other purported specs for the device include a 7-inch display, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a body that's similar in style to the BlackBerry PlayBook. Of course, we'll let you know if the mysterious Android-powered slate does end up making its debut at the event. Anyone think an Amazon-centric 7-inch tablet sounds worthy of a purchase?
